Nanny to Mom: How to Mentally Make the Shift

I am thrilled to share some truly exciting news from Super Nanny Certified! I am 13 weeks pregnant and, health permitting, will soon embark on the incredible journey of becoming a first-time mom. This moment feels both surreal and deeply humbling, and I am eager to embrace all that lies ahead.

Over a year ago, I wrote a blog post about navigating life’s transitions with confidence and joy. At the time, those words were more aspirational than personal. Now, they carry an entirely new significance as I step into a role that I have long observed and admired from the perspective of a nanny and childcare professional. It’s time for me to put my words into action and fully immerse myself in this transformative chapter.

Moving forward, Super Nanny Certified will continue to explore ways to help you grow into the best nanny you can be. But now, this platform will also delve into how the skills, knowledge, and instincts we develop as caregivers translate into motherhood. After all, the two are deeply interconnected, and I hope to bring you along on this shared learning experience. More knowledge is always great knowledge.

For over 10 years, I worked as a nanny, accumulating more than 15 years of experience in childcare. That time was incredibly rewarding, shaping not just my professional approach but also my personal philosophy on parenting. I often marveled at how much my childcare journey prepared me for the day I would have my own children, even before they were more than a distant dream. Now that dream is becoming a reality, and I feel so grateful to draw upon those years of learning, growing, and loving in this new role.

As I embark on this journey into motherhood, I want to extend an open invitation to you, my cherished community. Share your wisdom, your stories, and your advice—whether from the perspective of a seasoned mother, an experienced nanny, or someone who wears both hats. This is a time for connection, learning, and mutual support because if there’s one thing we’ve learned in this profession, it’s that it truly takes a village.

Let’s navigate this new chapter together, with grace, curiosity, and the shared goal of nurturing and growing—not just our children, but ourselves as well.
